The members saw a massive show of community support

We thank you for your support over the last two weeks.
On Thanksgiving Day, 21 members of IAMAW Automotive Local 1857 were locked out at West Coast
Ford Lincoln in Maple Ridge. The Partspersons, Technicians, and Warranty Administrator were fighting
for reasonable wage increases, as well as respect and equal treatment of all members, regardless of their
role. Negotiations resumed last week, and the picket was taken down on Thursday as a gesture of
goodwill. On Friday, October 25th, the members voted 86% in favour of a memorandum of agreement.
In the 8 working days that they were out, the members saw a massive show of community support. They
made themselves seen and heard, and they saw that their neighbours, friends, families, colleagues, and
customers had their back. Special thanks to those who came out, sorry if we missed anyone:

  • Gary, Mike, and Jarett from IAMAW 550
  • Christy from IAMAW 764
  • Al from USW 2009
  • Devin from CUPW
  • Stephen from the VDLC
  • Dave from IAMAW 1857, who organised two barbecues!
  • Brent and Angie from IAMAW 1857
  • Cheryl from IAMAW District 250

Your show of solidarity will not be forgotten.
The Local 1857 Executive Board also acknowledges the leadership and hard work of IAMAW District
250 Business Representatives Andrew Tricker and Al Cyr, as well as the two West Coast Ford Strike
Captains, Braeden and Morgan.

In Solidarity,
IAMAW Automotive Local 1857
